#11 Bearcats Defeat Brooklyn in Four

The No. 11 ranked men's volleyball defeated the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College in four sets in another hard-fought match between the two teams  on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

From the opening whistle, the visiting Bulldogs put up a battle with the first set tied at 24, but a Chris Kaimis kill and an attack error handed the Bearcats a 26-24 victory.

In the second set, the Bearcats jumped out to an 11-1 advantage by hitting .312 and never looked back for a 25-15 victory.

The Bulldogs started the third set with a 9-5 lead and finished hitting .333 to narrowly win, 27-25.

The fourth set appeared headed for another close score with the two teams tied at 16, but timely hitting enabled the Bearcats to record nine of the last 10 points for a 25-17 match victory.

Kaimis led the Bearcats with 16 kills, hitting .379, to go along with nine digs and two blocks.

Jack McKee totaled eight kills, four aces, six digs and five blocks, while Scott Standring was busy again with 38 assists and three aces. Man Wai Choi collected a team-high 11 digs.

The Bearcats had the stronger hitting percentage this evening at .276 (compared to .151), but the Bulldogs totaled more kills (45-44).

The men's volleyball team will return to action on Sunday, March 23, with an 11:00 am non-conference match at No. 10 Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.
