#10 Men's Volleyball Thwarts Comeback by Ramapo to Record Five Set Win

The No. 10-ranked men's volleyball team fended off a comeback by the Road Runners of Ramapo College to record a five set victory in a non-conference match on Tuesday night in Mahwah, New Jersey.

The visiting Bearcats started off strong with 25-21, 25-20 set victories, but the Road Runners rallied to record 25-19, 25-20 wins to force the fifth-set tie-breaker.

The two teams were tied twice early, but the Bearcats notched four of the last five points for the 15-11 score to walk away with the road victory.

The Road Runners led in the kills category with a 61-55 advantage, but the Bearcats were slightly better hitting with a .214 percentage compared to .206 by the hosts.
 

Chris Kaimis had a big match with 18 kills hitting a torrid .529. He also added nine digs and three blocks in the team's second five-set win of the season.

Nick Smith totaled 16 kills and eight digs. Scott Standring dished out 43 assists and collected a team-high 16 digs.

Connor Brandow led the Road Runners with 18 kills and two blocks.

The men's volleyball team will begin their conference schedule on Saturday, February 7, at the CUNYAC Multi-Match to be hosted by John Jay College of Criminal Justice. The team will play against the College of Staten Island at 11:00 am, followed by Brooklyn College at 3:00 pm.
