The top-ranked Springfield College Pride lived up to their national billing on Friday night, defeating the Baruch College Bearcats (25–11, 25–21, 25–13) inside the ARC Arena.
Springfield delivered an exceptional offensive performance, hitting .571 as a team, including a blistering .909 attack percentage in the third set to close out the match. The Pride also held a notable advantage from the service line, tallying 10 service aces to the Bearcats' three.
Despite the sweep, Baruch produced several strong individual efforts. Peter Gavroff paced the Bearcats with a standout night, finishing with 13 kills and two aces. Argjend Osmanaj added five kills and three digs, while his brother Ari Osmanaj directed the offense with 21 assists.
For the visiting Pride, AJ Severland led the attack with 10 kills, and Dylan Mulvaney anchored the offense with 23 assists.
With the loss, the Bearcats look to regroup quickly. They are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, January 27, for a 7:00 p.m. home match against SUNY Purchase. However, fans should note that this date is subject to change depending on the impact of the forecasted snowstorm expected Sunday into Monday morning.
